Far Flung Adventures’ Texas River Music Series started in 1983 as three day rafting trips on the Rio Grande in Big Bend National Park. Before too long, we were pleased to host such noteable performers as Butch Hancock, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Jerry Jeff Walker, Peter Rowan, Darden Smith, Chris Gage, Christine Albert and many more.  After a hiatus of some 20 years, the original partners in this unlikely collaboration have launched Texas River Music 2.0. We plan that this will continue indefinitely into the future by hosting a combination of our old friends as well as introducing new acts and fresh faces to the Rio Grande.

On October 18-20, 2019, we are excited to bring Austin artist and performer Patrice Pike  on an unforgettable excursion down 21 miles of Rio Grande, culminating in the amazing Santa Elena Canyon.  1500 feet in depth at the mouth of the canyon, with vertical cliffs rising straight from water’s edge. Patrice is new to Texas River Music, but not at all new to the Texas Music scene. Many of our perfomers in the past are noteworthy as singer/songwriters and indeed, Patrice qualifies in every way. This author has seen Patrice perform in front of a full band, and we are excited about Patrice bring her rock sensibilities to the river bank. We do not expect to sit still during her campfire performances

Cost for this trip is $800 per person, and includes everything you need except a personal sleeping bag.  Meals are fresh and delicious, accommodation can be made for any food preference or restriction. We will meet at the Terlingua Store at 9 am on Friday, October 25, then load into our vehicle to transport guests to the river’s edge in Lajitas. We encourage guests to meet us the afternoon/evening before for orientation and to pick up a waterproof duffel. Camping is available on site at no additional charge; we are happy to help arrange overnight accommodations nearby before and after the river trip.

We have decided to not enable on-line reservations as this is a very special and personal trip, and we want to make sure that everyone is fully informed about what it is all about. For further information and to book, call Mike Davidson/Go Big Bend at 432-386-5635, mike@gobigbend.com
